Setting out from Syabrubensi, our journey commences with a westward ascent, winding through rural villages and terraced fields, each step unveiling breathtaking vistas of nature's grandeur. Venturing along lesser-trodden paths, our leisurely pace allows for immersive experiences amidst tranquil surroundings. Gatlang, a picturesque hamlet nestled along our route, welcomes us with open arms, its charm emanating from the closely-knit homes and the vibrant culture of its Tamang and Gurung inhabitants. Ascending above the village, a detour beckons us to explore a cheese production center and a sacred pond, revered by locals and frequented by Hindu pilgrims during festivals, offering a panoramic spectacle that leaves an indelible mark on our hearts.
Embarking from Gatlang, our path ascends to the revered pilgrimage site of Parvati Kund, where a tranquil pond and Hindu shrine draw pilgrims, particularly during festive seasons. Meandering through fragrant rhododendron and towering pine forests, adorned with vibrant hues in spring and summer, our trail leads us to the breathtaking vistas of Khurpu Bhanjyang pass. As we descend into the valley's embrace, enveloped by the serenity of remote woodlands, we cross the Somdang River, marking the boundary between Dhading and Rasuwa districts. Our journey culminates in Dhading, where a riverside haven awaits, nestled near the remnants of a former mining compound. Here, amid rustic lodges, we find respite and reflection, completing another chapter of our adventure amidst Nepal's untamed wilderness.
Departing from the quaint hamlet of Somdang, our journey ascends through ever more enchanting landscapes, traversing dense jungles and winding paths until we reach the expansive pasture of Pangsang Kharka. Here, amidst vast meadows, we're greeted with panoramic views that stretch across the horizon, offering glimpses of majestic peaks such as Annapurna, Manaslu, and the formidable Ganesh Himal. Descending through verdant jungles, we're treated to a broad perspective of the lush valley below, a tapestry of greenery unfolding before us. Finally, we arrive at Tipling, a bustling settlement inhabited predominantly by the Tamang community, where Buddhist monasteries stand alongside Christian churches, reflecting the diverse cultural tapestry of the region. Engaging with the friendly locals, we gain insight into their rich Tibetan-influenced heritage, adding depth and warmth to our Himalayan odyssey.
Today's trek offers a leisurely pace as we embark towards the enchanting sister villages of Shertung and Chalis Gaon. Beginning our descent through tranquil jungles, we cross a meandering tributary before gently contouring our way to the picturesque village of Chalish Gaon, nestled amidst breathtaking surroundings. Just a short ascent of about 100 meters brings us to the captivating village of Shertung, where both settlements beckon with opportunities for exploration or simply unwinding amidst the stunning vistas of lush valleys and verdant fields below. Inhabited primarily by Gurung, Tamang, and Dalit communities, these villages offer a rich tapestry of culture and heritage, inviting us to immerse ourselves in their timeless charm.
Today presents an opportunity to pause our trekking journey and fully immerse ourselves in the tranquility of our surroundings. Embracing a day of acclimatization, we have the freedom to indulge in various optional activities tailored to our preferences. For those seeking relaxation, a visit to the nearby natural hot springs promises rejuvenation, with riverside pools inviting us to soak away our cares amidst the soothing embrace of nature's warmth.
Alternatively, an optional hike to a spectacular viewpoint above the villages offers unparalleled vistas, providing a perfect vantage point to admire the beauty of the landscape below. Alternatively, simply basking in the ambiance of village life, engaging with locals, and observing their daily routines offers a unique glimpse into the heart of these communities.
As evening descends, the rhythm of village life comes alive with the vibrant performances of traditional dances, a cultural spectacle presented by the local people for our entertainment. Whether opting for relaxation, adventure, or cultural immersion, today promises to be a day of rejuvenation and unforgettable experiences amidst the serene beauty of the Himalayas.

Important Note
Itinerary and Dates: Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is adventure travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions and the health of trekkers can all contribute to changes. Your guide, and their Sherpa assistants, will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary. Our aim is to return you safely to Kathmandu in time for your departure flight booking.
Experience Required: This Trek is suitable for keen walkers who are able to walk for 6 – 7 hours each day, with a light rucksack. Some of the days are quite long, and walking feels more strenuous at altitude. Generally, the trail is a good quality, but occasionally it will be uneven and rocky.
Food & Accommodation: You will be accommodated in a teahouse each night, unless the itinerary stipulates tent camping is necessary on some nights. Teahouses are simple, locally-run guesthouses with twin-share or single rooms. Toilets and showers are of varying standards. Typical food available for lunch and dinner is Nepali rice & lentils, pasta, potato dishes, soups or pizzas. Delicious pancakes, porridge, toast and eggs are the main breakfast fare, while tea, coffee and hot chocolate are always available. You will probably be pleasantly surprised by the variety of food at the lodges.
What about our luggage: One porter will be shared between two trekking clients. Porters will carry a maximum of 12kgs per client. If you wish to, you may keep excess clothing and items in a storage room at your Kathmandu hotel.
What will the temperature be like: The weather obviously varies considerably by season and may also change drastically within a single day, particularly at high altitude. If your itinerary takes you above 3,000m need to be prepared for conditions that may range from -10 to 25 degrees on any day. Some useful weather data is available here: https://bit.ly/3vi7rHX You will also need good protections from sun and wind exposure. Contact us for a suggested trek packing list to suit your itinerary.
How much money should we bring: You will need to carry Nepali Rupee to pay for things not covered by your itinerary package. This may include bottled water; evening hot showers; additional food treats; additional hot drinks; equipment replacement or repairs; battery charging and gifts and tips. Shopping can also be done on your last day in Thamel. Talk with us in our office before departing on your trek and we can provide more advice and currency exchange.
What about Acute Mountaineering Sickness (AMS): AMS is essentially impossible to predict. Some people are affected, and other not. Only a very small percentage of people suffer serious effects. Effects may become apparent at any altitude, not just at the extremes of your itinerary.
Signs of AMS includes:
Dizziness
Nausea
Headache
Loss of Appetite
Fatigue or weakness
Shortness of breath
Drowsiness
Flatulence
Peripheral Edema (Swelling of extremities)
Fluctuation in body temperature
Prevention of AMS:
Adequate rest prior to the trek.
Adequate hydration maintained throughout the trek.
Adequate salt and sugar in your bloodstream. So, eat plenty and don’t skip meals.
Adequate warmth. Use clothing layers to maintain warmth without sweating excessively. Controlled and regular breathing. Breathe deeply from the diaphragm to use all your lung capacity. Try and walk to a pace that maintains controlled and steady breathing. Breathe through your nose to protect you throat from drying. Consider wearing a muff over your mouth and nose at high altitudes.
Managed exertion. Trekking is not a race to the next pass or teahouse. Go at a constant, manageable pace, do not chase after the person in front. Keep a slow steady pace rather than pushing too hard and needing to stop frequently. Take time to enjoy the scenery.
