Gangtok Yuksom Pelling Darjeeling Tour

On arrival at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) (413 Ft / 126 Mts), you will be met by our local representative, who will assist you to board the vehicle to Gangtok. On reaching Gangtok, check in and overnight at hotel.

Today, after enjoying a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Gangtok, you will embark on a scenic full-day excursion to the iconic Tshangu Lake (also spelled as Tsomgo Lake). Situated at an altitude of 3,780 meters (12,400 feet), this glacial lake is one of Sikkim’s most revered natural wonders, known for its breathtaking beauty and tranquil surroundings.

Your journey begins with a drive from Gangtok along the National Highway 717A, winding through dense pine and rhododendron forests, charming villages, and high-altitude mountain passes. The drive is approximately 43 kilometers one way, which takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on road conditions. Along the way, you will get panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas, and if weather permits, glimpses of the snow-capped peaks like Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain.

Upon arrival at Tshangu Lake, take in the serene turquoise waters, which remain partially frozen during the winter months. This sacred lake holds religious significance for the local Lepcha and Bhutia communities, who believe that the lake’s waters have the power to foretell the future. You may witness yak rides around the lake (optional and at an additional cost), adding to the authentic Himalayan experience.

Spend ample time exploring the lake’s surroundings, capturing photographs of the stunning landscape, and enjoying the crisp mountain air. The area is home to small prayer shrines and traditional mani stones, reflecting Sikkim’s Buddhist heritage.

After a memorable visit, start the return drive to Gangtok, enjoying the scenic vistas once again. Arrive back in the city by late afternoon. You may spend the evening relaxing at your hotel or exploring the local markets for souvenirs, handicrafts, and local delicacies.

After breakfast, visit the scenic Banjhakri Falls, surrounded by lush greenery and traditional shaman sculptures. Next, enjoy a ride on the Gangtok Ropeway for panoramic views of the city, valleys, and Teesta River. Later, drive 120 km (5–6 hrs) to Yuksom, the historical gateway to Khangchendzonga National Park. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax, or take a peaceful evening stroll through this charming Himalayan town.

• Early morning - hiking tour to Dhubdi Monastery (built in 1700 AD, the oldest monastery of Sikkim) The Monastery is located on a Hilltop above Yuksam surrounded by verdant forest. It can be approached by trekking only, negotiating a steep slope. It is an ideal place for lamas seeking meditational recluse. After visiting Dubdi Monastery go for a further uphill walk to Hung Hri Monastery (03 Hrs. one way). Evening Back to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

After breakfast we drive to Pelling on the way visit to Khecheopari Lake (6000 Ft / 1829 Mts); Khecheopalri Lake is one of the sacred Buddhist mountain lakes wherever it is believed that whatever is wished in front of the lake comes true. Myth has its that when a leaf falls on the placid clear water surface is picked by a bird. Further proceed to Pelling and visit Pemayangtse Monastery. The Pemayangtse Monastery belongs to the Nyingma-pa order of Tibetan Buddhism. It was built as a small temple in late 17th century by Latsun Chenpo. On the top floor there is a wooden sculpture portraying the Mahaguru's Heavenly palace Sangthokpalri. Pemayangtse via Ravangla. Check in overnight stay at Hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel in Pelling, you will begin your scenic drive to Darjeeling, covering approximately 125 kilometers through winding mountain roads, terraced tea gardens, and charming villages. The journey takes around 5 to 6 hours, offering plenty of opportunities to admire the panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas and the lush valleys below.

On arrival in Darjeeling, check in at your hotel and freshen up. In the evening, explore Darjeeling’s vibrant Mall Road, a bustling promenade lined with shops, cafes, and local handicrafts. Stroll to Observatory Hill, which offers spiritual significance and beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains. Don’t miss Mahakal Temple, perched on the hilltop, a serene spot revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, offering peaceful ambiance and stunning sunset views over the Himalayan ranges.

Spend the evening soaking in the charm of this hill station, interact with locals, or enjoy some leisure shopping before returning to your hotel.

Early morning at around 0400 am (subject to clear weather) for visit to Tiger Hills (8482 Ft / 2586 Mts) to view the sunrise over mighty Kanchendzonga Peak (Third highest peak in the world). On way back visit Ghoom Monastery.

After breakfast visit to Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park & Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays), Tibetan Refugee self-help Center (Closed on Sunday Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays) & Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda Back to Hotel, Overnight at hotel.
