Our diverse travel packages fall under three main categories: Culture & Leisure Tours, Trekking & Walking Holidays, and Climbing & Expedition adventures in ice-covered and mountainous terrains.
To ensure a safe and hassle-free journey, all our clients are required to have comprehensive travel insurance. This coverage is essential to safeguard against unforeseen expenses arising from medical emergencies, accidents, flight delays, and trip cancellations due to pandemics, regional epidemics, political unrest, or natural disasters. However, the type of coverage required varies depending on the nature of the trip.
A well-planned adventure should always include reliable travel insurance. In case of illness or injury, the costs of emergency medical treatment and evacuation can be overwhelming. We strongly recommend securing an appropriate insurance policy before embarking on any journey with Age of Himalayas. Be sure to carefully review the details, as some insurance providers have specific exclusions for adventure-related activities. It is crucial to inform your insurer about your planned itinerary and ensure that all activities in your chosen package are covered.
For example, if you are signing up for trekking or mountaineering expeditions in the Himalayas, your policy must include emergency helicopter evacuation and medical expenses. However, for group tours in urban destinations, air ambulance coverage is not mandatory but remains advisable. In Tibet, helicopter rescues are not possible, so there is no need to purchase air evacuation coverage for trips in that region. Additionally, ensure your policy includes trip cancellation coverage, as all deposits made with Age of Himalayas are non-refundable.
Insurance Guidelines by Trip Category
Culture & Leisure Tours
Since these tours primarily take place in urban and relatively low-risk areas, they do not demand specialized adventure insurance. However, your policy should include coverage for medical emergencies, pandemics, epidemics, and trip disruptions due to flight cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances.
Trekking & Walking Holidays
Trekking routes vary in difficulty based on altitude and terrain, often requiring emergency assistance. In remote areas with limited access to medical facilities, helicopter evacuation might be necessary. It is vital to inform your insurer about the maximum altitude you will reach to ensure proper coverage for emergency rescues and medical issues. Additionally, trip cancellation coverage should be included. We recommend consulting our travel advisors for guidance before purchasing your policy.
Climbing & Expedition
Climbing and expedition trips involve high levels of risk, including navigating steep ice walls and snowy cliffs. Due to the possibility of serious injuries or fatalities, these trips require specialized insurance with advanced search, rescue, and medical evacuation coverage. Insurance policies for such trips are categorized based on altitude. Be sure to obtain comprehensive insurance that meets all safety requirements before joining an expedition with Age of Himalayas.
All travelers must provide us with a copy of their insurance policy details or carry the documents during their trip. If you fail to present the necessary insurance coverage, we may be compelled to cancel your participation for safety reasons.
