Bird Photography Tour– 16 Days

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, relax and recover from your journey. If time permits, explore the bustling streets of Thamel for your first taste of Nepal.

After breakfast, embark on a full-day cultural sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath. The tour offers opportunities for urban bird photography including common mynas, egrets, and various doves and bulbuls.

Today you’ll visit the lush Godavari Botanical Garden and hike through the Phulchoki jungle, a premier birding hotspot in the Kathmandu Valley. Look out for species like the Spiny Babbler (endemic to Nepal), Red-billed Leiothrix, and various species of woodpeckers and warblers.

Take a morning flight to Biratnagar and continue with a private vehicle to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. Located in the eastern lowlands, this Ramsar-listed site is home to over 500 bird species. After hotel check-in, enjoy a sunset walk to spot open-country birds.

Start the day with a guided bird-watching walk along forest trails and wetlands. Later, take a scenic boat ride along the Koshi River to spot aquatic birds such as herons, storks, kingfishers, and perhaps even freshwater Gangetic Dolphins.

Spend another full day in this paradise for birders. Explore grasslands and riverbanks with an expert guide. Possible sightings include Bengal Florican, Swamp Francolin, and various species of raptors and waders.

A scenic drive westward takes you to Sauraha, the gateway to Chitwan National Park. After arriving, relax at your jungle lodge. Enjoy a short sunset walk along the Rapti River for evening bird sightings.

Begin the day with a canoe ride on the Rapti River, followed by a full-day guided jungle walk. Look out for hornbills, jungle fowl, woodpeckers, and perhaps a glimpse of the endangered Gharial or one-horned rhinoceros.

Explore the deeper regions of Chitwan National Park on a full-day jeep safari. Capture shots of peacocks, red jungle fowls, serpent eagles, and many more as you traverse through grasslands and sal forests.

Spend the morning exploring Janakauli Community Forest and its visitor center. This buffer zone area is rich in biodiversity and offers sightings of barbets, parakeets, and various woodland birds.

Drive to the sacred birthplace of Buddha—Lumbini. In the afternoon, visit the Vulture Conservation and Breeding Center, a successful project protecting endangered vultures such as the White-rumped and Slender-billed species.

Spend the day visiting the Crane Sanctuary, where you can photograph the magnificent Sarus Crane—the tallest flying bird in the world—along with various wetland birds like egrets and lapwings.

Take a morning flight from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu. After check-in, rest or enjoy free time in the capital city. Private car option available if preferred.

Enjoy an afternoon bird-watching session in the Ranibari Community Forest in central Kathmandu. This small forest patch is home to birds such as the Black Drongo, Coppersmith Barbet, and various warblers.

Use the day to rest, explore local markets, or optionally revisit birding locations like Godavari or Taudaha. Great for last-minute photography or souvenir shopping.
